Highview Photo 1993 - Present

Owners/Operators Dean & Joni Ward

May of 2013 marked the 20th year of Highview Photo in its current location. For two years prior to that, it was up in the air, literally. As a commercial pilot and photographer, Dean began shooting aerial photographs of local businesses and large farms throughout our beautiful province. He soon realized the great demand for quality photofinishing in Central Alberta, so he purchased land on Red Deer’s Gaetz Avenue, constructed a building, and open the doors on a modest 1000 sqft retail location with the unique addition of a drive-thru, processing upwards of 80 rolls of film per day.

In 1994, Dean and Joni met/fell in love/started talking marriage (it all happened at once) and became the team their clients rely on today. In 1998, Highview Photo underwent a massive renovation and quadrupled its size. The larger footprint gave them the space to offer an impressive variety of custom framing options to their clientele while the second floor of the building became the home of Red Deer’s largest photography studio.

Although no longer processing film, Highview Photo has evolved and diversified and remains a prominent business and landmark on Red Deer’s south hill. There have been several renovations over the years, (move this wall, paint that wall, hey let’s build a spiral staircase over there!) and so on, until yet another major renovation and facelift in 2010. In the spring of 2014, the studio received an astounding overhaul and is now an even more impressive and contemporary space in which to photograph families and corporate clients.
